Another record year for the Swedish golf brand Abacus

Sales volumes for the Swedish golf brand Abacus have increased with 25% to 6,5 million EURO 2007.
"This is the same rate of increase we have had the last five years. It's fantastic that we can still have this level of growth now that we have become so large." Says Managing Director Sven-Olof Karlsson.
And the growth seems to be continuing in 2008.

Abacus sponsored the European team in The Solheim Cup, which was played in Sweden last year.
"This has clearly increased the recognition of our brand on the market. We were spoken about in a completely new way after the competition, as well as the fact that the players continued to appear in our clothes even playing in other competitions. This is a testimonial that cannot be underestimated."

Five new countries 2008

During the last year Abacus has worked intensively to expand its market to more countries. In 2008 the brand will also be available in England, Scotland, France, Germany and Austria.
"With this we have laid the ground for a very exciting 2008. The day it starts showing results will be a giant step." Says a satisfied Sven-Olof Karlsson.

First prize for functional clothing

Another highlight for the small clothing brand from Dalby outside Lund was the first prize in the category function clothing, at the golf show, Golf Europe in Munich Germany, October 2007. Abacus "Pitch" rainwear in stretch fabric won the prize beating multinational giants like Nike and Gore Tex...
"It created quite a sensation, even amongst ourselves." Says Sven-Olof Karlsson.
"But it is confirmation that something is happening on the market. People have realized that function is more than just being waterproof. The wearer must be able to move freely in the clothes too, and that is why we won."
Amongst professionals it is common to play under an umbrella when it's raining." He adds. "But now about 30 players on the Ladies Tour have bought their own Pitch rainwear, and play in them when the weather is bad."

Even the Danish Golf Federation has noticed Abacus. According to a newly signed five year contract the Swedish golf brand will dress the national teams, both men and women, from juniors and upwards.
